Like the flamingos at Sewri, it’s here, bang on time — even a little ahead of schedule. The 2010 court calendar is out. Printed copies to adorn your desk and make your wallet look prosperous will soon be available at the Association’s usual low, low price. Remember to buy one. Better still, buy ten.

Things to look out for:

• no court working Saturdays! Let us pledge not to make demands for mid-week holidays and let us pray that no government falls and no elections are called.
• no reduction in holidays! That’s right! We can go on holiday en masse, walking hand in hand off into yonder sunset. In other news, the Law Minister has announced new measures to bring down case arrears …
• lots of long weekends in February. For all members of the Mahabaleshwar Club, make your bookings now! For others, sorry, you’ll have to make do with Koh Samui.
• a completely gratuitous holiday in August for the battle-scarred and wearied legions of lawyers.
