SEMINAR: JUDICIAL ACCOUNTABILITY

Judicial Accountability includes contempt of court, among other things. This seminar, organized by the Indian Association of Peoples’ Lawyers (IAPL), is being held in the context of the controversy regarding some of the orders and judgments passed in the Delhi sealing case, and the arrest of four journalists from Midday (Delhi) for contempt of court.

Ours is a Parliamentary democracy with an executive, a legislature and an independent judiciary. The executive is accountable to the legislature; the legislature is accountable to the people by way of adult franchise. But to whom is the judiciary accountable?

This issue will be debated at the Seminar. Speakers at the seminar are:
