New Case Management Information System
The new Case Management Information System (CMIS) is designed to overcome problems in the present Case Information System (CIS) and to make it more advocate- and litigant-friendly, while ensuring that the workload in the Registry is streamlined and more efficient.
CMIS Features and Benefits
For Judicial Sections
- Detailed capture of all Case Filing Information: parties’ names, addresses, case category and subject, case classification.
- Filing acknowledgement by e-mail to advocates/litigants.
- Case classification by capturing information like Police Station, FIR. No., Crime No., LAR No, Notification date (Civil Land Acquisition), Company Registration No. from the ROC (Original Company matters), etc. at the time of filing of the case. This information facilitates grouping of matters and also generates information regarding the outcome of companion case, if any.
- Computerised scrutiny of the filed cases. Objections, if any, will be listed on Internet as well as communicated to advocates/litigants by e-mail with the date on which the case will be listed before Registrar.
- All cases will be listed within 7-10 days after registration before the appropriate court. This will ensure that the case comes up for hearing on a specific date without having to be mentioned.
- Subject classification features are incorporated in the system and grouping is possible once the Registry enters the data.
- Per day quotas of cases for hearing are set: one unit of fresh matters, and one of old pending matters that are still undated in the Registry. Matters assigned specific dates by Courts will be listed on those dates.
- If not given by the Court, each case not disposed of automatically gets its next listing date according to the quota. Each case thus has a fixed date: either given by the Court, or generated by the system. This reduces the need for mentioning matters.
- All pending Miscellaneous Applications in a main case not yet admitted will be listed along with main case on a given date. All pending Miscellaneous Applications in admitted main cases (for final hearing) will be listed before the Court on a specific date for orders, if the main case cannot be taken up before the assigned date. If the main case is already scheduled for hearing, all pending Miscellaneous Applications in that matter will be listed along with the main case.
- Cause-list generation will be automatic and quick. Cause-lists of future dates will be generated. The judicial sections will now work in tandem with the computer generated board and not prepare boards of selective matters manually. With this, old unattended matters will be traced and placed before the Court for hearing.
- Various types of notices required to be sent by the Registry will be generated through the system, reducing the manually typing work of the staff.
- Case movement at every stage is recorded in the system. This gives the latest status of each case.
- All orders (including hand written) are to be uploaded to the server for certified copies as well as on High Court website.
- Advocates/Firms to be registered in system with unique codes being assigned to them. This will help in disseminating information for sending e-mails regarding case.
- The information relating to progress of hearing in each court will be captured and same will be displayed on the new electronic display panels.
- The CMIS also provides a module for filing cases electronically (E-filing) as per the Supreme Court format.
For Litigants/Advocates:
- Litigants/Advocates will get acknowledgements of the filing of their cases by email.
- Next hearing dates will be communicated to advocates/litigants by e-mail. Advocates will know the next listing dates of their cases in advance.
