Suggestions Regarding Unified REVISED High Court Rules: reminder

A few days ago, we informed members of the deadline (10 April 2012) for sending in their suggestions on the draft Unified Revised Rules prepared by the Justice Marlapalle Committee. A short note on the salient changes is now available online. This is for convenience only, given that time for this is so short.

Links:

Again, as a reminder:

  • As the Rules are divided into seven Parts, suggestions should be submitted to the respective Associations in separate envelopes for each Part, the Part number being mentioned on the envelope.
  • Suggestions should be focussed on individual rules; general comments are to be avoided;
  • Explanatory notes may be included.
  • Suggestions may also be in regard to a recasting or a rewording of a particular rule.

If you're one of those forest-felling environmentally-insensitive types still subscribing to the Daily Board, all 400 pages of it (only about 100 trees a year), be warned that your subscription ran out yesterday.

If you want to persist in this unlovely conduct for the next year too, 1 April 2012 (today; no, it's not a joke) to 31 March 2013, we can't stop you. But we can make you pay for it, at these low, low prices:

  Part I
Rate per annum
Part II
Rate per annum
Members

Rs.5500

Rs.2000

Non-Members

Rs.6000

Rs.2500

(See the advantages of becoming a member? All you have to do is apply, wait for only 7 years for temporary membership, re-apply for permanent membership, wait another 7 years and then you can save FIVE HUNDRED RUPEES! What are you waiting for?)

We don't take cash. Cheques only, and make sure you sign them. Make them out to the BOMBAY BAR ASSOCIATION and deliver them from evil to the Association staff 10:00 am and 5:00 pm on any working day (that means a day when the Court is officially open, not the odd day between your 'international conference' trips to Santorini and Pattaya).

Payments must be made by 20 April 2012. If not, board delivery will cease. And our forests will be saved. Think about it.
