The Union of India obviously shares our affection and regard for Mr Darius Khambata, Senior Advocate. We congratulate him on his appointment as Additional Solicitor General.
The Union of India may, however, be in for some surprises, for Mr Khambata has a formidable reputation for the most painstaking preparation of his matters. His new clients will have their work cut out for them. Will Mr Khambata successfully navigate the treacherous shoals of the Union of India’s law department, where so many who went before floundered? We believe so, and trust that this is but a first step to much greater things.
Not to put too fine a point on it, with Mr Khambata’s appointment, both the Advocate-General and the Additional Solicitor General are from our Association, and the Original Side. And there’s the Attorney-General, too, and Ms Indira Jaising, ASG in Delhi … by our reckoning, that’s four law officers from the same association of the same High Court.
Was someone saying something about doing away with us?
