On 27 Augus 2015, Ms. Vivian Huelgo, Chief Counsel to the Commission on Domestic Violence of the American Bar Association addressed the members on the US Perspective of gender based violence. Ms.Huelgo leads the development and implementation of initiatives designed to assist the lawyers representing victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking. Ms. Huelgo addressed the members and apprised them as to how such issues are handled in the United States of America including legislative initiative. Ms.Armin Wandrewala spoke about the Indian perspective on the issue. The Secretary, Dr. Birendra Saraf pointed out that in recent times Indian courts have taken up such issues on priority basis and there have been instances of the fast track trial in gender based violence. There was an interesting exchange between the members and Ms.Huelgo.
